DIY Oat Sock Bath Recipe: A Simple and Affordable Skin Remedy

Updated: Feb 24

I wanted to share my very simple and affordable oat sock bath recipe with you!

Oat bath infusion

This easy-to-make bath infusion is great for all skin types, from newborns to adults.

Our oat bath recipe is especially beneficial for newborn babies' delicate skin, expectant mums, and conditions like eczema, psoriasis, dry skin, sensitive skin, rashes, insect bites, chickenpox, hand, foot, and mouth disease, sunburn, and more.

Let’s get started!

You will need:

  • Oats (just regular oats, not instant oats)

  • A sock (a good-length one, not a pop sock)

  • Optional: Unrefined cocoa butter buttons (link included, but any cocoa butter works)

Instructions:

  1. Simply add a large handful of oats into your sock.

  2. Add 1 cocoa butter button to the sock (optional).

  3. Tie the sock tightly.

Yes, it's that simple!

Add your oat sock or bath infusion to the bath and run the water. (If you add it to an already filled bath, it will take longer for the cocoa butter button to melt.)

The more you squeeze the sock, the more silky goodness you get!

You can even rub the sock all over your body like a sponge to enhance the experience.

Once finished, empty the remaining contents into the bin and wash your sock as usual.

If you’re not fond of using socks, you can buy small cotton pouches, which are also reusable. I’ve added a link here for an example, but you can use any pouch.

Why Oat Milk?

Oat milk is a natural cleanser, so there’s no need for babies or small children to use added soap during the bath.

Budget-Friendly Tip:

If your budget doesn’t allow for the cocoa butter buttons, don’t worry! You can just use the oats.

Alternatively, if you want to elevate your bath infusion, you can add extras like lavender buds, chamomile flowers, or rose petals for a soothing aroma and extra skin benefits.

This sounds amazing - does the cocoa butter leave the bath slippery? I can’t wait to try this x
